A. Notwithstanding the provisions of R.S. 33:2476(L)(1)(c), in the city of Monroe, the board may fill the office of secretary for the municipal fire and police civil service board by employing on a part-time basis any person the board deems qualified. The board may pay any such person a salary not to exceed sixteen hundred dollars per month, which salary shall be approved by the municipal governing authority.
B. The duties of the secretary shall be assigned by the board.
