A. The state Department of Education shall provide written information to public school governing authorities relative to cardiac health. Such information shall include, at a minimum, the requirements that a student athlete who has or has had a cardiac health issue must meet before returning to participation in athletics.
B. Each public school governing authority shall distribute the information provided for in Subsection A of this Section in writing to student athletes and their parents and legal guardians. Coaches, athletic trainers, athletic directors, or other appropriate school personnel shall collect signatures from parents indicating receipt and understanding of the requirements outlined in the communication.
