A. A school support employee shall be compensated at a rate not less than that of a substitute teacher for all work performed as a substitute teacher. Compensation for such work shall not be considered an increase in base salary and shall not be considered in the calculation of the employee's salary in the following school year. The provisions of this Subsection shall not apply to any day on which the school support employee performs work as a substitute teacher for less than a single class period.
B. Each city, parish, and other local public school board shall establish a policy which provides a standardized method for school support personnel to report work performed as a substitute teacher.
C. For purposes of this Section, “school support employee” means an employee of the school board whose regular employment with the board does not require a teaching certificate.
