The district attorney of the Seventeenth Judicial District is authorized to employ not more than two special investigators. Except as otherwise provided in Subsection B of this Section, the salaries and expense allowances of such investigators shall be fixed by the district attorney with the approval of the governing authority of the parish of Lafourche and shall be payable by the parish of Lafourche, and the duties of these investigators shall be restricted to matters concerned with the parish of Lafourche only.
