A. The commission shall consist of fifty-nine members as follows:
(1) The chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary C or his designee.
(2) The chairman of the House Committee on the Administration of Criminal Justice or his designee.
(3) The secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections or his designee.
(4) The chief justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court or his designee.
(5) The chief judge of each of the courts of appeal.
(6) The president of the Louisiana Juvenile Judges Association.
(7) The president of the Louisiana District Attorneys Association.
(8) The president of the Louisiana State Troopers Association.
(9) The president of the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association.
(10) The president of the Louisiana Fraternal Order of Police.
(11) The president of the Louisiana Municipal Association.
(12) The president of the Louisiana Association of Chiefs of Police.
(13) The chairman of the Louisiana State Bar Association Section on Criminal Law.
(14) The state public defender employed by the Louisiana Public Defender Board.
(15) The deputy secretary for public safety services of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections.
(16) Three district attorneys appointed by the governor.
(17) Three sheriffs appointed by the governor.
(18) Two chiefs of police appointed by the governor.
(19) A district court judge appointed by the governor.
(20) A juvenile court judge appointed by the governor.
(21) Three professional or laypersons appointed by the president of the Senate.
(22) Three professional or laypersons appointed by the speaker of the House of Representatives.
(23) Fifteen professional or laypersons appointed by the governor as may have a vital concern with law enforcement and the administration of criminal justice.
(24) The president of the Louisiana City Marshals and City Constables Association or his designee.
(25) One person appointed by the governor from a list of at least three persons submitted by Victims and Citizens Against Crime, Inc.
(26) The president of the Louisiana Union of Police or his designee.
(27) The attorney general or his designee.
(28) The deputy secretary of youth services of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections or his designee.
(29) The director of the Louisiana Clerks of Court Association.
(30) The chairperson of the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus or her designee.
(31) The chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary B or his designee.
(32) The chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Women and Children or his designee.
B. Each member shall serve a term concurrent with that of the governor making the appointment. Every person who holds commission membership by virtue of his official position or employment shall cease to be a member at such time he no longer holds the position that qualified him for membership on the commission.
C. Each appointment by the governor shall be submitted to the Senate for confirmation. Members shall serve without compensation, per diem, or travel reimbursement; however, legislator-members may receive per diem or travel expense reimbursement.
