When a person is convicted of violating any felony provision of the Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substances Law, 1 the court imposing sentence shall determine if the defendant possesses a license to practice a trade, occupation, or profession in this state and, if so, the court shall cause notice of the conviction to be forwarded to the appropriate licensing authority.
