In the event of the death of a patient in a treatment facility, the head of the treatment
facility shall immediately give notice of the date, time, place and cause of such
death, to the extent known, to the nearest known relative of the patient, and, as
appropriate, to the court having jurisdiction over the patient, the attorney for the
patient, and to the county or district attorney and as otherwise provide for by law,
to the coroner for the county in which the patient died.
