No retailer licensed under this act shall purchase or receive alcoholic liquor from any source except from a distributor, farm winery or microbrewery licensed under this act and having a place of business in this state, except that a licensed retailer may purchase confiscated alcoholic liquor at a sheriff's sale. Any retail licensee who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine of not less than $200, nor more than $1,000, to which may be added imprisonment for not more than six months, and the license of such licensee may be revoked as provided by law.
