No insurance company or fraternal benefit society organized under the laws of this state shall adopt the name of any existing company or society, or any name so similar as to mislead the public. No foreign insurance company or society shall be licensed in this state which bears the name of any company or society already licensed in this state, or of any insurance company or fraternal benefit society organized under the laws of this state, or any name so similar as to mislead the public. The commissioner shall require the name of every domestic insurer to be submitted to him prior to commencement of business and may reject any name so submitted when it is so similar to that of any other corporation as to mislead or tend to mislead the public.
