Sec. 11. Any area that is part of a territory and that is annexed by a municipality that is not a part of the territory ceases to be a part of the territory when the municipality begins to provide fire protection services to the area. However, this provision does not apply to or affect any part of the territory that is located in a fire protection district that retains fire protection authority and responsibility after an annexation.
