Sec. 4. (a) Beginning July 1, 2026, a chairperson shall be elected by the council members at the first meeting after July 1 every even-numbered year. If a vacancy occurs in the position of a member who is the chairperson, the council shall elect a member to serve the remainder of the chairperson's term at the next meeting of the council.
(b) The chairperson may not be a state employee.
(c) Before August 1, 2023, the governor shall appoint the chairperson of the council.
(d) The chairperson must meet one (1) of the qualifications of a member under section 5(b) of this chapter. This subsection expires July 1, 2026.
