§ 247. “Hospital” means any institution for the conduct, operation or maintenance of which a license is required by the Hospital Licensing Act; 1 or an institution (or a facility within an institution) maintained and operated by this State, or by any of its political subdivisions or municipal corporations, or by an instrumentality of one or more of the foregoing, primarily engaged in providing medical care to individuals, including diagnostic, therapeutic, psychiatric, or obstetrical services.
