§ 226. The term “employment” shall not include services performed in connection with the illegal recording or making of bets or wagers or the selling of pools upon any contest or race; or in connection with the playing of or betting in any game of chance involving the losing or winning of money or any other thing of value; or in connection with the illegal operation of any lottery whether by dice, lot, numbers, game, hazard, or other gambling device.
