Illinois Statutes Chapter 75. Libraries § 5/4-14. Payment of judgments, settlements and liability insurance; levy of additional taxes for payments

§ 4-14. A Board of Library Trustees may, by resolution, provide for (a) the payment, in the manner provided for in Section 9-104 of the “Local Governmental and Governmental Employees Tort Immunity Act”,  1 of any judgment for which it is liable; (b) the making of payments to settle or compromise a claim or action against the board; and (c) the contracting and payment of premiums for insurance against loss or liability, as provided in Section 9-103 of the “Local Governmental and Governmental Employees Tort Immunity Act”. 2

In addition, the board may include in the statement of financial requirements in its annual report to the corporate authorities the specific sums required to make the payments provided for in the first paragraph of this Section and the amount of any additional taxes it will be necessary to levy for those purposes. The corporate authorities may levy a tax for these purposes under Section 9-107 of the “Local Governmental and Governmental Employees Tort Immunity Act”. 3
