§ 2. Upon the final termination of the original lease or of any renewal thereof, and subject to the provisions of Section 1 of this Act, the Authority, at the election of the park district, shall cause to be removed from the demised premises the improvements constructed or installed thereon by it, and shall cause the demised premises to be returned, as nearly as practicably possible, to their condition at the inception of the original lease. If, at such time, the park district elects to preserve the improvements, it is hereby authorized to maintain and operate the improvements for the same purposes as the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority may be authorized to maintain and operate the improvements at that time.
