§ 9-2-96. The collector and the general officer to whom the warrants are returned, shall pay over to the municipal treasury to which the money belongs, all money collected by them, respectively, by virtue of such warrants, or upon any sale for taxes, or otherwise, at such time or times and in such manner as shall be prescribed by ordinance. They shall be allowed such compensation for their services in the collection of these assessments as the ordinance of the municipality may provide, except when their compensation is fixed by a general law.
