§ 7-1-22. Upon the annexation of the whole of a municipality to another municipality, all public books, papers, and documents filed in any office or with any officer of the annexed municipality, shall be transferred to and filed in the appropriate office or with the appropriate officer of the annexing municipality, as the corporate authorities of the annexing municipality shall direct. All persons having possession of these books, papers, and documents shall deliver them to and file them in or with the appropriate office or officer.
