§ 10-5-4. If the corporate authorities of any city, village or incorporated town, which adopts this Division 5, neglect, refuse or fail to procure the insurance policies prescribed in this Division 5, within 30 days after the adoption hereof, except as provided in Section 10-5-5, neglect, refuse or fail to keep such policies in force, then such city, village or incorporated town shall be liable in an action at law to such volunteer firemen or their estates, as the case may be, for all amounts which would have been payable under the provisions of such insurance policies had such policies been procured by such city, village or incorporated town.
