§ 3-6003. Bond. Before entering upon the duties of his or her office, he or she shall give bond, with 2 or more sufficient sureties (or, if the county is self-insured, the county through its self-insurance program may provide bonding), to be approved by the circuit court for his or her county, in the penal sum of $10,000 (except that the bond of the sheriff of Cook County shall be in the penal sum of $100,000), payable to the people of the State of Illinois, conditioned that he or she will faithfully discharge all the duties required, or to be required of him or her by law, as such sheriff; which bond shall be filed in the circuit court, and a copy thereof also filed in the office of the county clerk of his or her county.
