§ 2. Upon application to the Board and its approval, the Board may make grants to each county, municipality or township for payment of additional compensation to full time law enforcement officers qualifying under this Act, in the amount of an additional 2% of base pay or $200 per year, whichever is less, in the case of an officer who has been employed at least one year and who has completed 30 or more semester hours, or the equivalent, of law enforcement related courses at the college level.
It shall be within the authority of the Board to establish guidelines for courses which are to be considered as related to law enforcement and to approve specific courses for the 30 semester hours credit.
