Illinois Statutes Chapter 5. General Provisions § 605/1. State's title to submerged land

§ 1. The State of Illinois for the benefit of the People of the State and in pursuance of protecting the trust wherein the State holds certain lands for the People, hereby elects and determines to assert and reclaim the title to lands of the State of Illinois now submerged and lands that were formerly submerged, but that have been illegally filled in, reclaimed and occupied, and also any such lands that may have been allotted to any person or corporation, public or private, and which have been illegally filled in, reclaimed and occupied, or which are not used and occupied for the purposes for which they were allotted.
