§ 2. Definitions. As used in this Act, unless the context otherwise requires:
“Office” means the State Comptroller, the Board of Trustees of the State Universities Retirement System, or the Board of Trustees of any of the following institutions: the University of Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois University, Northern Illinois University, and Western Illinois University.
“Department” means any department, board, commission, institution, officer, court, or agency of State government, other than the University of Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois University, Northern Illinois University, and Western Illinois University, receiving State appropriations and having the power to certify payrolls to the Comptroller authorizing payments of salary or wages from appropriations from any State fund or from trust funds held by the State Treasurer; and the Board of Trustees of the General Assembly Retirement System, the Board of Trustees of the State Employees' Retirement System of Illinois, the Board of Trustees of the Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois, and the Board of Trustees of the Judges Retirement System of Illinois created respectively by Articles 2, 14, 16, and 18 of the Illinois Pension Code. 1
“Employee” means any regular officer or employee who receives salary or wages for personal service rendered to the State of Illinois and, for the purpose of deduction for the purchase of United States Savings Bonds, includes any State contractual employee.
“Annuitant” means a person receiving a retirement annuity or disability benefits under Article 2, 14, 15, 2 16, or 18 of the Illinois Pension Code.
“Annuity” means the retirement annuity or disability benefits received by an annuitant.
