§ 12-4.25a. Any vendor of physician services who shall be the subject of a medical quality review by the Illinois Department shall have the right to consult with another physician or physicians to assist in understanding the procedures and interpretations of the Illinois Department and to assist in interpreting, as an experienced or expert consultant or witness, the quality of care, its relation to a prevailing standard of care, and standards of documentation of the Illinois Department. The consulting physician or physicians may be present at the review meeting where the provider is present. The assistance offered by the consulting physician or physicians shall respect the confidentiality of recipient patient relations with the treating physician in relation to consultation on treatment matters. Nothing in this subsection shall be deemed to waive the requirements of the Medical Patient Rights Act 1 as it relates to patient privacy and confidentiality.
