Illinois Statutes Chapter 305. Public Aid § 5/11-29. Notification of Eligibility for Earned Income Tax Credit

(a) The Illinois Department shall include the notice regarding the availability of the federal earned income tax credit, in the language provided under Section 20 of the Earned Income Tax Credit Information Act,  1 in any one scheduled mailing disbursed during the month of January to: (1) any person receiving cash assistance under Article IV of this Code;  2 (2) any person receiving benefits under Article V of this Code  3 who does not also receive cash assistance; (3) any person receiving benefits under Article VI of this Code  4 who resides in the city of Chicago; and (4) any person receiving benefits under the federal food stamp program who does not also receive cash assistance under any Article of this Code.

(b) Before the annual mailing of the notice under subsection (a) of this Section the Illinois Department shall update the language of the notice provided under Section 20 of the Earned Income Tax Credit Information Act in the appropriate blanks to reflect the maximum earned income tax credit and the maximum earnings to which that credit shall apply, as determined by the federal government.
