§ 50-20. Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Fund. There is hereby created in the State treasury a special fund to be known as the Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Fund. There shall be deposited into this Fund such amounts as may be received pursuant to subsection (c)(2) of Section 6-118 of the Illinois Vehicle Code. 1 Monies in this fund shall be appropriated to the Department and expended for the purpose of making grants to reimburse DUI evaluation and risk education programs licensed by the Department for the costs of providing indigent persons with free or reduced-cost services relating to a criminal charge of driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. Monies in the Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Fund may also be used to enhance and support regulatory inspections and investigations conducted by the Department under Article 45 of this Act. 2 The balance of the Fund on June 30 of each fiscal year, less the amount of any expenditures attributable to that fiscal year during the lapse period, shall be transferred by the Treasurer to the General Revenue Fund by the following October 10.
