§ 8h. Maternal milk donation education.
(a) To ensure an adequate supply of pasteurized donor human milk for premature infants in Illinois, the University of Illinois Hospital shall provide information and instructional materials to parents of each newborn, upon discharge from the University of Illinois Hospital, regarding the option to voluntarily donate milk to nonprofit milk banks that are accredited by the Human Milk Banking Association of North America or its successor organization. The materials shall be provided free of charge and shall include general information regarding nonprofit milk banking practices and contact information for area nonprofit milk banks that are accredited by the Human Milk Banking Association of North America.
(b) The information and instructional materials described in subsection (a) may be provided electronically.
(c) Nothing in this Section prohibits the University of Illinois Hospital from obtaining free and suitable information on voluntary milk donation from the Human Milk Banking Association of North America, or its successor organization, or their accredited members.
