§ 9.22. International internship program. The Board of Higher Education is authorized to administer an institutional grant program to provide internship opportunities in international business and other international study practica, including overseas study, to students studying foreign languages, international studies, or international business at any public or nonpublic institution of higher education located in Illinois. The Board is authorized to administer and expend privately donated or federal funds that are received by the Board and that are designated to be used for the purposes of this Section. The Board shall administer the program and shall distribute the funds received for this purpose in the form of grants to public and nonpublic institutions of higher education located in Illinois. In awarding grants under this Section, the Board shall consider whether programs:
(1) comply with the standards necessary to meet the requirements of private or federal funding entities;
(2) provide opportunities for students from underrepresented groups; and
(3) meet other criteria that the Board determines are appropriate.
The Board may promulgate rules it deems necessary for the international internship program.
