Should any city acquire and operate a city irrigation system under the provisions of sections 50-1801 through 50-1835, which shall be included within the boundaries of one or more irrigation districts, nothing in sections 50-1801 through 50-1835 shall be construed to prevent such irrigation district or irrigation districts from assessing the lands within the boundaries of the city irrigation system for the payment of its just portion of such bonded or other outstanding indebtedness until such bonded or other outstanding indebtedness together with the interest accruing thereon shall have been fully paid and discharged.
