(1) The election board of each election precinct in which a voting machine is to be used shall meet at the polling place for the election precinct at least thirty (30) minutes before the time set for opening the polls. Before preparing the machine for voting, the election board shall cause the voting machine to be placed where it can be conveniently attended by the election board and conveniently operated by the voters and where the machines can be plainly seen by the election board and the public when not being voted on.
(2) After performing its duties as provided in this section, the election board shall certify to the fact in the appropriate places in the poll book.
