The director of commerce and consumer affairs may appoint condominium specialists, not subject to chapter 76, to assist consumers with information, advice, and referral on any matter relating to this chapter or otherwise concerning condominiums. The director may also appoint secretaries, not subject to chapter 76, to provide assistance in carrying out these duties. The condominium specialists and secretaries shall be members of the employees' retirement system of the State and shall be eligible to receive the benefits of any state or federal employee benefit program generally applicable to officers and employees of the State.
