(a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this article, the commissioner may issue:
(1) A limited license to persons selling travel insurance. For purposes of this paragraph, “travel insurance” means insurance coverage for personal risks incident to planned travel, including:
(A) Interruption or cancellation of trip or event;
(B) Loss of baggage or personal effects;
(C) Damages to accommodations or rental vehicles;
(D) Sickness, accident, disability, or death occurring during travel;
(E) Emergency evacuation;
(F) Repatriation of remains; or
(G) Any other contractual obligations to indemnify or pay a specified amount to the traveler upon determinable contingencies related to travel as approved by the commissioner.
“Travel insurance” does not include major medical plans that provide comprehensive medical protection for travelers with trips lasting longer than six months, including those working or residing overseas as an expatriate, or any other insurance product that requires a specific insurance producer license;
(2) A limited line credit insurance producer license to any individual who sells, solicits, or negotiates limited line credit insurance; or
(3) A limited license to any owner of a self-service storage facility, as defined in section 507-61, to sell stored property insurance, as defined in section 431:9A-171.
(b) The commissioner may prescribe and furnish forms calling for any information that the commissioner deems proper in connection with the application for or extension of these limited licenses.
(c) The limited license shall not be issued until the license fee has been paid.
(d) A person issued a limited license shall act in good faith, abstain from deception, and practice honesty and equity in all insurance matters.
