The Department of Law Enforcement may provide by rule for access to and dissemination and use of criminal justice information for research or statistical purposes. All requests for records or information in the criminal justice information systems of the department shall require the requesting individual or entity to enter into an appropriate privacy and security agreement which provides that the requesting individual or entity shall comply with all laws and rules governing the use of criminal justice information for research or statistical purposes. The department may charge a fee for the production of criminal justice information under this section. Such fee shall approximate the actual cost of production. This section does not require the release of confidential information or require the department to accommodate requests that would disrupt ongoing operations beyond the extent required by s. 119.07.
