(a) Repealed.
(a-1) There is established as a subordinate agency within the executive branch of the government of the District of Columbia, the Forensic Sciences and Public Health Laboratory.
(b) The mission of the Laboratory shall be to provide independent, high-quality, timely, accurate, and reliable forensic science services and public health laboratory services with:
(1) The use of best practices and best available technology;
(2) A focus on the delivery of unbiased science and an emphasis on promoting transparency in operations;
(2A) A commitment to timely response and accountability to customers and stakeholders; and
(3) The goal of enhancing public health and the fair and balanced administration of justice.
