Connecticut General Statutes Title 20. Professional and Occupational Licensing, Certification, Title Protection and Registration. Examining Boards § 20-217. Funeral director's license. Examination. Fee. Out-of-state licensees

(a) When a registered apprentice funeral director has completed a program of education approved by the board with the consent of the Commissioner of Public Health, has successfully completed an examination prescribed by the department with the consent of the board and furnishes the department with satisfactory proof that he or she has completed one year of practical training and experience in full-time employment under the personal supervision of a licensed embalmer or funeral director, and pays to the department a fee of two hundred ten dollars, such registered apprentice funeral director shall be entitled to be examined upon the Connecticut state law and regulations pertaining to his or her professional activities. If found to be qualified by the Department of Public Health, such registered apprentice funeral director shall be licensed as a funeral director. Renewal licenses shall be issued by the Department of Public Health pursuant to section 20-222a, unless withheld for cause as herein provided, upon a payment of a fee of two hundred thirty dollars.

(b) Examinations for a funeral director's license shall be held semiannually and at such other times as may be determined by the Department of Public Health.

(c) Any person licensed as a funeral director in another state whose requirements for licensure in such capacity are substantially similar to or higher than those of this state and who is a currently practicing competent practitioner shall be eligible for licensure without examination upon application and payment of a fee of two hundred ten dollars, provided all such applicants shall be required to pass an examination, given in writing, on the Connecticut public health laws and the regulations of the Department of Public Health pertaining to the activities of a funeral director. No license shall be issued under this section to any applicant against whom professional disciplinary action is pending or who is the subject of an unresolved complaint.
