(a) Appointment of the medical staff or an individual medical staff member of a hospital, as defined in the regulations of Connecticut state agencies and licensed pursuant to subsection (a) of section 19a-491, may be biennial or triennial and consistent with the federal Medicare conditions of participation and standards and with the requirements of approved national accreditation organizations in accordance with 42 CFR 488.8.
(b) The Commissioner of Public Health may amend existing regulations adopted pursuant to section 19a-14 as necessary to implement the provisions of this section.
