Connecticut General Statutes Title 14. Motor Vehicles. Use of the Highway by Vehicles. Gasoline § 14-11a. Exceptional issuance of certificates and licenses for law enforcement activities. Verification by Chief State's Attorney of statements on application for such certificates and licenses

The Commissioner of Motor Vehicles shall not issue a registration certificate in a name other than that of the owner of the vehicle or issue an operator's license in a name other than that of the applicant for such license, except when the statements made on the application for such certificate or license have been verified by the office of the Chief State's Attorney and such certificate or license is issued for the purposes of law enforcement activities in accordance with regulations adopted by the commissioner pursuant to chapter 54. 1 The office of the Chief State's Attorney shall establish and transmit to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to judiciary the proposed criteria to be used by the office of the Chief State's Attorney in such verification. Before such criteria shall be employed by the office of the Chief State's Attorney, said committee shall approve the same in writing. The commissioner is authorized to waive the fee for any registration certificate or operator's license issued in accordance with the provisions of this section.
