On and after July 1, 2023, any person who has been elected to a local or regional board of education for the first time shall complete, at a time and in a manner prescribed by the Department of Education, the training program for newly elected members of local and regional boards of education, as described in section 10-5f. Each such member shall complete such training program not later than one year after assuming office.
