For the school year commencing July 1, 2022, and each school year thereafter, each local and regional board of education shall hire or designate an existing employee to serve as the family care coordinator for the school district. The family care coordinator shall work with school social workers, school psychologists and school counselors in the schools under the jurisdiction of the board. The family care coordinator shall serve as a liaison for the school system with mental health service providers for the purposes of providing students with access to mental health resources within the community bringing mental health services to students inside of the school.
