(1) An operator may sell any motor vehicle and its attached accessories and equipment or personal property within or attached to the vehicle that are not redeemed by the last-known owner of record or lienholder after the notice was sent in accordance with section 42-4-2104(1).
(2) At least five days before a vehicle is sold in accordance with subsection (1) of this section, the operator shall send a notice to the law enforcement agency having jurisdiction over the operator. The notice must contain a list of personal property found within the abandoned vehicle that has an intact serial or identification number and each serial or identification number. The operator shall deliver the notice by certified mail, facsimile machine, or personal delivery.
