In all proceedings and notices authorized by this part 5, figures may be used instead of words, and in districts of extended areas it is not necessary to designate each piece of land separately. In such case general descriptions and quantities may be used, except in the assessment rolls. Except in such rolls, the cost may be stated as being of probable or certain amount per front foot or per square foot or per lot of given size.
