The rules of practice set forth in this subpart are applicable to “502(l) civil penalty proceedings” (as defined in § 2570.82 of this subpart) under section 502(l) of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA or the Act). Refer to 29 CFR 2560.502–1   1 for the definition of the relevant terms of ERISA section 502(l).
