(a) The director may enter into contracts with the approval of the Director of Finance with any county of this state, upon request of the board of supervisors thereof, wherein the Division of Juvenile Justice agrees to furnish diagnosis and treatment services and temporary detention during a period of study to the county for selected cases of persons eligible for commitment to the Division of Juvenile Justice. The county shall reimburse the state for the cost of those services, the cost to be determined by the Director of the Division of Juvenile Justice.
(b) The Division of Juvenile Justice shall present to the county, not more frequently than monthly, a claim for the amount due the state under this section which the county shall process and pay pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 4 (commencing with Section 29700) of Division 3 of Title 3 of the Government Code.
(c) The Division of Juvenile Justice shall not accept new cases from the counties pursuant to this section on and after July 1, 2021.
