Whenever a vacancy occurs in themember of the board appointed by a subcommittee of the city selection committee, thevacancy shall be filled bythat subcommittee. Thesubcommittee shall meet within 30 days following the occurrence to appoint a director to fill the vacancy. The board shall determine promptly the time and place of the meeting of thesubcommittee and shall give the members at least 10 days notice thereof. Whenever there shall not be a quorum present at the meeting of thesubcommittee, the meeting shall be adjourned to a subsequent time and place as determined by a majority of the total number of votes present.
The appointment of the subcommittee shall be deemed approved by the city selection committee unless rejected by a two-thirds vote of the committee within 30 days of the appointment. If the appointment is so rejected, the subcommittee shall make another appointment.
An appointment to fill a vacancy shall be for the unexpired portion of the term.
