Any disability insurer may issue policies of group disability insurance and family expense disability insurance as defined in this article but shall not issue any form of policy of group disability insurance, or family expense disability insurance except as prescribed in this article and except as provided in Article 6.7 of Chapter 1 of Part 2 of Division 1 1. Provided, however, that during the calendar years of 1952 to 1956, inclusive, a policy of family expense disability insurance as defined in Section 10270.7 may either (1) contain the provisions required by Section 10270.8 and those promulgated by the commissioner pursuant to Sections 10270.9 and 10270.93 and be subject to this article and to Section 10291.5 or (2) be filed and approved under Article 2 of this chapter and be subject to such article and to Articles 3a, 4a and 5a of this chapter 2 and contain the provision required by Section 10270.8(b). On and after January 1, 1957 the provisions of this article shall no longer relate to such policies except Section 10270.7 and subdivision (b) of Section 10270.8 and all of such policies shall be subject to the provisions set forth in alternative (2) above, except that such policies need not comply with subsection (c) of Section 10320 if they comply with Section 10270.7.
