The Public Employees' Retirement System, as a public entity, and the present, future, and former board members of the Public Employees' Retirement System, jointly and individually, and state officers and employees, shall be indemnified from the General Fund and held harmless by the State of California from all claims, demands, suits, actions, damages, judgments, costs, charges, and expenses, including, but not limited to, court costs and attorney's fees, and against all liability, losses, and damages of any nature whatsoever that these present, future, or former board members, officers, and employees shall or may at any time sustain as a result of the transfer of the Volunteer Firefighters Length of Service Award System as described in Chapter 4.5 (commencing with Section 50950).
