A. The standard for construction of curbs on each side of any city or town street, or any connecting street or road for which curbs have been prescribed by the governing body of the city or town having jurisdiction thereover, shall be not less than two ramps per lineal block at the crosswalks at intersections. At the option of the city or town, such ramps may have a two foot exposed aggregate strip adjacent to the gutter. Such ramps shall comply with the Americans with disabilities act of 1990 (42 United States Code §§ 12101 through 12213). 1
B. Standards set for ramps or curbs under subsection A shall not apply to any ramp or curb existing on June 12, 1975 but shall apply to all new ramp or curb construction and to all replacement ramps or curbs constructed at any point in a block which gives reasonable access to a crosswalk.
