Any work necessary to conduct remediation pursuant to this article may qualify as a remedial action for purposes of § 49-285. Any person may submit a request to the department for approval of a remedial action for purposes of § 49-285 by filing an application in accordance with the rules adopted pursuant to § 49-282.06. A request may be combined with any application pursuant to this article, and the department shall be reimbursed for the cost of reviewing the application as provided in this article. The director's approval under this section is not required to preserve any right to recover remedial costs under § 49-285.
