A. Pursuant to § 28-332, the department may cooperate with cities, towns, counties and other governmental authorities, including regional planning agencies, to plan and coordinate regional public transportation services in and adjoining a vehicle emissions control area as defined in § 49-541. This planning and coordination may be for the purpose of extending public transportation services across jurisdictional boundaries or into poorly served or unserved portions of urbanized areas and their suburban communities.
B. The department may cooperate with cities, towns, counties and other governmental authorities, including regional planning agencies, to plan, coordinate and encourage car pooling and van pooling activities in and adjoining a vehicle emissions control area as defined in § 49-541.
