A. A person shall pay a fee of not more than fifty dollars for the reinstatement of a motor vehicle registration and license plate as prescribed by the department for the purposes prescribed in this article. Except as provided in subsection B of this section, this fee does not apply to a person who is required to comply with the financial responsibility requirements prescribed in article 2 of this chapter. 1
B. The fee prescribed in subsection A of this section applies to a person who is required to comply with the financial responsibility requirements prescribed in § 28-4033, subsection A, paragraph 2, subdivision (c).
C. The director shall deposit, pursuant to §§ 35-146 and 35-147, the fees collected under this section in the motor vehicle liability insurance enforcement fund established by subsection D of this section.
D. A motor vehicle liability insurance enforcement fund is established consisting of monies received pursuant to this article. The department of transportation shall administer the fund, subject to legislative appropriation.
