(a) Requirement.--Notwithstanding 58 Pa.C.S. § 3225(a)(1) (relating to bonding), the bond amount for conventional oil or gas wells shall be $2,500 per well or a blanket bond of $25,000. The Environmental Quality Board shall undertake a review of the existing bond requirements for conventional oil and gas wells. Nothing in this section shall be construed to alter or repeal section 1934-A of the act of April 9, 1929 (P.L. 177, No. 175), 1 known as The Administrative Code of 1929.
(b) Definition.--As used in this section, the term “conventional oil or gas well” means any oil or gas well which is not an unconventional well as defined in 58 Pa.C.S. § 3203 (relating to definitions).
